Week 33 - 24 September 2021

  • Hello! Welcome to my study notes. As a short intro - I'm part of the first cohort of a new Master's called Global Collaborative Design Practice, run jointly by UAL (Camberwell) and KIT in Kyoto.
  • I'm writing them for a few reasons. Firstly, to help me make sense of and retain what I've been up to. Secondly, perhaps they'll be of interest to some imaginary interested person. If that's you hello! Maybe you're thinking of doing this course next year, or are otherwise interested - always feel free to drop me an email if so.
  • I'll try to attach any course resources (handbooks, briefs etc) unless someone tells me not to.

First week

  • Not much has happened - yet. It's freshers week, so we've just received our first ice breaker assignment, which is to introduce our locale in the form of a pecha kucha. I decided to talk about hedges (which I've adapted into a post).
  • We're meeting in person for the first time on Monday to present them back. One of the features of the course is that the cohort is split across London and Kyoto, so in order to facilitate us all being 'together' everything in London starts at 9am, which makes it 6pm in Kyoto. It's one of the things that makes the course feel like a bit of an experiment - one of the reasons I chose it over other courses.
